Pla76Hi all, glad to be here on this forum. This is my 1st posting. Just acquired a 2001 Orange Prowler with 8000 miles.

Hood gas spring (both) need replacement, they don’t hold the load. I see few types avail thru suppliers and even Amazon.

But what would you recommend as best ones out there to hold the load and that are somewhat durable.

Thanks a lot
Pierre PLA76

Hi, thank you both for this lead. That’s what I like getting real life feedback.

Went to their website. They have so many types and models, Like made of carbon steel or made stainless steel. Also their strokes don’t seem to match the 7.21 compressed 8.90 extended that I saw quoted for the Prowler by MaxPow supplier. I may call LST directly.

By any chance, do you recall the LST type, size and/or part number you used for the car?

Thanks so much again.

BeWareI have lots of stainless and chrome in my engine bay so I purchased the stainless. I don't recall anything else.

You have to use the ends off of your struts.

You ONLY USE ONE shock. It opens the hood a little more so you have to take off both OLD ones first. Then lift the hood a little higher and install ONE ONLY. I have been doing that for quite a few years.
Before that I had LST shocks. They finally failed and I went with the low cost 4026, that comes with a lifetime warranty.
The ends don't work so you simply unscrew the old ones and put them on the new ONE.

Maddawg6I had the same issue when I purchased mine a little over 2 years ago. I purchased these from Amazon:

I haven't had an issue yet.

I also purchased this for use during car shows just to make sure in case they ever fail:
